Allen & Allen Law Firm Scholarship is offering a scholarship to celebrate the life of George E. Allen, founder of the law firm. Fifteen students will be selected to win a $1,500 scholarship. Visit http://www.allenandallen.com/scholarships for more information, to download an application and to find instructions on submitting it. Applications are also available in the Counseling Office. All applications must be postmarked by April 28, 2018.
AP Boxley McDonald's Student & Teacher Achievement Award is offering a unique scholarship to an outstanding student who has written an essay about their favorite teacher. Spotswood will select a school winner, and those winners will go on to compete with other area high school students for a chance to win larger scholarship money. SHS winners will receive a $500 scholarship. For an application and more information, please stop by the Counseling Office to pick up a copy. Return all paperwork by April 3, 2018.
BBB Student of Integrity Scholarship was designed to promote integrity and ethics in the marketplace. Winners will receive a $1,000 scholarship. The deadline is January 31, 2018.
Dennis & Patricia Early Scholarship was established by two former SHS teachers to help a student to attend either Blue Ridge Community, Bridgewater College, James Madison University or Eastern Mennonite University and major in a math or science based field. The First Tee of Harrisonburg Michael L. Carrier Scholarship is offering their scholarship to interested high school seniors who plan to attend a a two or four college or trade school. The scholarship is for $1,000. If interested in applying, please stop by the Counseling Office to pick up an application. All completed applications must be post marked by March 28, 2018.
George W. Shreckhise Memorial Scholarship is a scholarship for students interested in attending BRCC and transfering to Virginia Tech to major in horticulture or students who will attend Virginia Tech to major in horticulture. The Rotary Club of Harrisonburg is offering their scholarship to reward graduating seniors who epitomize the Rotary Club motto of "Service Above Self." The Rotary Club will award $17,000 to Rockingham area students - one for $5,000 and several more for $1,000. Samuel R. Bowman II Endowed Scholarship for BRCC is a scholarship offered to Latino students pursuing further education at Blue Ridge Community College. Virginia Bankers Association Bank Day Scholarship is offering a scholarship program for high school seniors, called Bank Day. The third Tuesday of March has been declared Bank Day by the Virginia General Assembly. On this day, high school seniors spend a day in banks across the commonwealth, shadowing a banker in their daily duties, where they will learn about banking, financial services and the role banks play in the community. Participants are then eligible to apply for scholarships. If you are interested in participating, please stop by the Counseling Office to pick up information and sign up for the event. Bank Day will take place on March 22. The deadline to sign up is March 12, 2018.
The Dennis "Chip" Taylor Memorial Scholarship is offered in memory of Firefighter Chip Taylor. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist a student in furthering their education at a college/university, with the intent to pursue a career in fire and rescue. The scholarship is for $500. Stop by the Counseling Office for an application and more information.
DuPont Community Credit Union is offering a $1,000 scholarship to students in their membership area. One scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior at each of 28 area high schools.
